When innocent, you can only shoot someone on truly valid grounds - analyse and act on facts. RDM will result in a slay/kick. Excessive RDM will result into a ban.
Okay, we all agree that this is a...let's say, "archaic" rule. Acting on facts and analysing stuff and actually deducing by using chains of logic is really boring and disrupts the flow of the game. We should definitely remove the rule since nobody follows it anyway and some older admins still punish people who break it. I'm not saying I am right and you HAVE to remove it, but I am just trying to convince the higher staff that it is a dumb rule for the following reasons:
- Nobody follows it anyway. People are confused. Should we follow it? It's boring to follow it and people who are new to the server get told by experienced players and Moderators that it's alright to RDM. They follow that advice and then have more fun than they would have if they followed the rule. Then an admin comes along and warns the person for shit like "I on I RDM". Do you guys honestly think that this is okay?!?
- Anyone who enforces this rule is a fucking robot who can't think for themselves. The stupid dumb Nazi admins actually slay, kick or even fucking BAN people for breaking the rule too much. What. The. Fuck. They just want to suck up to Bluestar and get promoted by blindly enforcing the rules. The admins who DON'T punish people for RDM are the smart ones: They think logically. "Does the rule even make sense?", they think. This post is a joke, by the way. Because they are not chimps, they come to the conclusion: No. It doesn't.
- Garry's Mod is an FPS. S stands for Shooter. You shoot people. In fact, some people run Garry's Mod at 60 FPS, which means I am right 60 times. Why would you make a dumb rules about NOT being allowed to play the game as it's meant to be played? Dumbshits.
- Donations increase with every RDM. I have a degree on whatever shit you have to study to know this kind of stuff. Poorly Drawn Dog RDMs a million people every day, and look what he did. He basically funded half the server. What follows is a graph I put together with my 6 weeks of playtime.

Back to the topic shall we?
Watsuda, what about the people that get rdmed. We get new people to the server everyday and they will probably leave if they get rdmed

It's TTT, if RDM was allowed it would be deathmatch. That rule is what makes TTT what it is.

Such rhetorical sarcasm!

The numbers don't lie, theres only one option left. Stop donations.

Thank you.
Watsuda, what about the people that get rdmed. We get new people to the server everyday and they will probably leave if they get rdmed
They know it's a necessary sacrifice. Whenever I get RDM'd, I feel like I have helped Bluestar keep the server alive. It's a good feeling. That's why Jan and I RDM each other a lot to blow off steam. It's a psychological thing called, uuuh, yeah well whatever it's a thing.
#TrueStory that you are still mad, you should start grow up and stop cry Welcome to the real world Boy.
My mother always used to say: "If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing."
So how about you shut the fuck up, you annoying piece of shit. FUCK. Why don't you fucking grow up and learn how to go two sentences without insulting someone, huh, dumbass shit?
It's TTT, if RDM was allowed it would be deathmatch. That rule is what makes TTT what it is.
So what?! What TTT is right now is shit and boring. Only if we can transcend (whew that's a big word I don't even know how to use that) from those rules that chain us down, we can truly find euphory in the brilliant game that is Trouble in Terrorist Town.
What if we started a fire sale?
That is actually a pretty good idea. We could try that. We all sell our Pointshop items and give the points to Bluestar. He converts the points into real money (Which has to be possible: Donating real money gives people PS items, it has to work the other way around too!) which he can then use to fund more TTT servers for more RDMs. We need a second TTT server. I just realized that. I'll make a graph for that real quick.

As you can see, the amount of dollar signs has TRIPLED from the first graph.

If the admin rank were hidden and the server would just display that an admin is online, we'd probably get more people who actually want to do admin work instead of people who want to have a fancy color.
PS.: I thought only bitchy girls used the ^^ emoticon sarcastically.

The problem is that some admins actually did their work and others didn't ...
-
At least admins that do absolutely nothing are just...normal players with colored names. The real problem is abusers, which we don't have. (I think.)

Idk dude, from what I remember, only the inactive head admins (who had already been previously talked with), Noomie, and Owen were demoted. Latter two temporarily because they were involved with some overly sarcastic and edgy guy. Which wouldn't even been a big deal if an ex-admin wouldn't had overstepped his boundaries and made it seem as if someone was just causing chaos.
That wasn't probably the best move, just disabling two admins like that, even though temporarily. Nor was conjuring nine layers of sarcasm and patronizing the guy trying to get context on the situation to decide if there is a need to do anything at all.
But hey, on the bright side, at least you can accept you were wrong to trivialize the situation, not like you carry some sort of personal vendetta for that person and attempt to preach his incompetence.

I'm just still salty about it and haven't gotten it out of my system yet!
Who made what seem as if who was causing chaos? What chaos? The initial argument that happened on the server or the shitstorm that followed after the demotions? You make it seem like there was an evil puppetmaster at work even though it was just two fellas yelling about RDM on the server and the guy who was blamed for it denying it.
Why aren't names necessary? Are you subtly talking to the person you mean without saying their name? Am I that person? Because the message is really not getting through to me so I think you are either misinterpreting or remembering something wrong, or that I'm just remembering something wrong.
(This post has no irony in it and all the questions I asked were honest! We still haven't talked about it because I honestly didn't think it even deserve to be taken seriously, but now I'm really curious and I wanna clear this up.)
EDIT: Seriously guys, am I that person
help
-
Names aren't necessary at all;)
Well since I have no clue who exactly he means with 'that person' I'd like names.
-
Since some people seem to be suffering from memory loss and some others from extreme sarcasm, I might as well summarize and clarify it once more so everybody can get over it.
Old thread:
http://catgc.com/index.php?topic=647.msg6103
To start off, Watsuda was right about one thing. I barely know anybody here so I treat everyone alike until they can prove their competence. In addition I was and still am skeptical about most of the current staff's competence just because of the fact I have this position.
Islu and Destructive complain to me about Noomie, Owen and Watsuda abusing the powers of the former two on them.
Although they provided proof it was way too out of context to be called that.
I message Noomie, Owen directly, asking them what happened.
Noomie and Owen tell me Islu and Destructive were trolling.
Watsuda adds me and describes the situation with exaggerated metaphors.
At this point it was pretty clear it wasn't anything serious so I invite Islu, Destructive, Noomie, Owen, and Watsuda into a group chat to ask them to stop messing with eachother.
(This is where it would had stopped, because I didn't see any proof from either side to push the blame just on one side)
Watsuda again speaks in exaggerated metaphors, then leaves the group chat and deletes me.
After that everyone else seemingly dismiss me as well and leave the chat.
Since it didn't seem like the point got across, I proceeded to demote everyone involved (Noomie, Owen) temporarily, and at the same time remove the inactive head staff (whom I had spoken with a few days-weeks earlier regarding their activity) from the roster.
Owen messaged me soon after and I assured him it was temporary and I'd revert it the next day.
The next day I find out someone had told Diivze I demoted a bunch of people for no reason and he had restored everyones' ranks.
And that is pretty much it. Was it unreasonable to demote people suddenly without any notice? Maybe. Was it unreasonable to expect people to cooperate with someone investigating a complaint?
I don't think I'm asking for a lot here, I like to think I'm a fair person, what I was expecting was everyone involved acknowledging they won't cause some sort of drama again and involve me without proof. I don't get any answers and get patronized.
Perhaps it's not the best comparison, but if you're a cop called to a pub about two fighting parties but can't figure out who's at fault, you're going to haul them all off to figure it out, I figured I'd let it slide since nothing really happened, but then one of the people decided to not cooperate and just leave. Now my sole purpose here is to solve problems like that, if people don't want to cooperate I'm not left with many choices.
Maybe I'm taking things too seriously, but if you think I'm so terribly irrational and incompetent that you're surprised I am even in this position in the first place, you can create some sort of community poll and vote me off, and I promise I'll never use any privilege higher than an average user's again for the common good.
I do hope you'll be able to get it out of your system at some point Watsuda, maybe even lose a few layers of sarcasm.
-
Nobody here is suffering memory loss or being sarcastic. I sure wasn't being sarcastic when I asked all those questions! I asked what the hell you meant because the things you described just outright don't apply to me. You were just being cryptic and using metaphors about "layers of sarcasm" and being "edgy" and whatever instead of speaking about actual things I did anyway. It almost seems like out of all the people "involved", being me, Noomie, Owen, Destructive, Islu and you, you are the only one who doesn't actually know what happened.
I sort of understand what you did and why you did it, but the problem is that I didn't even know that I was involved. I know what sparked the whole thing was an "RDM" I made, but whatever Islu and Destructive were complaining about both on the server and to you was its own thing. I think they mainly complained about power abuse and whatnot.
Here's a quick rundown: I see Islu (or Destructive) shoot an innocent guy. I shoot the killer. The killer was also innocent and told me that it was RDM since I should have known that he shot him in self-defense, which I didn't because I just came in the room. (Something like that, I may be remembering that wrong.)
Anyway, since my answer to his report was plausible enough and nobody had proof I RDM'd (innocent until proven guilty etc.), which I still think I didn't, I didn't get slain.
I did tell the admins (Noomie or Owen or whoever it was) to slay me after Destructive complaining for like 10 minutes, but that didn't stop him.
I see that one tiny pseudo-RDM and whatever they complained about to you as two seperate problems. I never really had the impression that I even had anything to do with whatever they told you. Since I didn't wanna be involved in yet another TTT-server-admin-corruption-drama (which is why I left admin in the first place), I decided to overcompensate for that by not taking ANYTHING related to it seriously and at the same time ridiculing the entire situation. (I still think it's ridiculous, but how I went about it was obviously stupid and I'm sorry for that.)
The actual shitstorm (that was just an incident in the middle of the night that passed as quickly as it it happened and didn't even have that many witnesses) that followed was just a mix of an arguably weird decision and poor communication. I'm saying "arguably weird" because I can see why you demoted everyone, but at the same time I would have never thought of doing something even remotely like what you did. (Probably because I've known all of them for a while.)
The part about the poor communication is the interesting one.
So apart from the fact that I never fucking told you anything about what happened from my point of view until this very moment, you also didn't really get your intentions across very well.
From my point of view, you just seemed like an insane dictator who didn't even deserve his power (a "tyrannus absque titulo", if I remember the book I read like an hour ago correctly. Teehee!) and completely misplaced his anger. It didn't seem like
"There is a conflict and I want to solve it, but fucking Watsuda isn't taking it seriously and since I can't solve it in a traditional way, I'll have to get the message across another way",
it seemed more like
"Those two random guys I don't even know told me that two other admins I don't even know are biased and I am going to instantly believe them. Additionally, some other random guy who is just a player on the server who has nothing to do with the problem at hand doesn't take the problem seriously so I am just going to demote the two allegedly biased admins for 'being involved with an edgy guy' and also some other admins who weren't even there because why the fuck not".
Now you could say:
"But...Watsuda, if you didn't think I didn't communicate well enough with you, then why did you just delete me from friends and refuse to take anything I say seriously? And why do you get your anger out of your system by writing sarcastic references about toe stubbing like a child instead of actually talking about it like you are doing right now?!"
To which I'd say:
"Shit, good point." :'(
I'm gonna explain a bit further why I didn't take you or the situation seriously. Let's say the shitstorm came in two waves.
Wave 1: The RDM on the server.
The initial reason I didn't take the situation seriously is that I didn't even know I was involved in a situation. There was an RDM thingie but that got solved. Since the way it lead to a discussion about biased staff and corruption was so indirect and had nothing to do with me, even though I caused it (just like my grandma giving birth to my mother would be a "cause" of me stabbing a homeless guy), I didn't feel like taking it seriously or partaking in any discussion about it since I was punished for it anyway. (Compare it to a suspect to a case paying a fee so he won't have to go to court and then getting schlepped to court anyway. He'd be pissed!)
Wave 2: The whole demotion thing and the discussion on the forums.
As soon as I saw that you blamed me for it in any way (I still thought I had nothing to do with the situation, mind you) I just couldn't take it seriously at all! This is the moment where I got the impression I described colored in red above.
Not only that, it made me feel really uneasy. I never really had a problem with the server's higher admins, and then you came along and acted impulsive enough to just demote people I'd consider friends and blaming me for it. Again, poor communication on both ends. Still, I see that you and I agree on the fact that demoting everyone was a very questionable way to go about it. Quite extreme.
Here's a funny little thing only three people know:
I laughed about it with Islu and Destructive right after it happened on Teamspeak because I realized that they didn't take the situation seriously either. They told me that they legitimately didn't like the higher staff of the server and used the "RDM" I caused as a reason to complain to you and cause some drama before leaving the server forever. The drama that unfolded was more dramatic that they had ever expected, which made it even funnier.
Now this is just me saying that and I wouldn't mind if you thought I lied, but I don't wanna keep my mouth shut about it anyway. Making it seem like someone was just causing chaos, yeah right. If you don't believe me, why believe them? You randomly trusted them and demoted two people and now you say the reason for that is "being involved with an edgy guy"?! So them talking to me, the guy having nothing to do with the situation that you decided to hate, is a reason to demote them on a whim because some guys are saying they are biased?
As a little PS at the end of the humble little text I just wrote: That Old thread link doesn't work. I don't know what it's supposed to be linking to (I guess the thread you made one day later?) but as far as I know, that thread was gone a day after it was made. I thought it was deleted until now. I guess it's only visible to you? Try logging out and clicking it.
-
I was being vague since I assumed we both had the same understanding of the situation and thus I was right, since you never seriously tried to dispute me, even after I pretty much put the blame on you.
But it as it seems I was wrong, now that I've read your side of the story, I apologize for putting the blame on you, I'd delete my original response, but like you said, I'm an idiot and didn't realize the thread had been moved to the admin section. Even though I'd probably still do the same since there wasn't really any other way to interpret the situation since you just left.
I didn't think people would make such a big deal out of it for the same reasons, that the people involved were aware of what had happened and accepted it, especially since all those demoted would be back with their rank in like 10 hours and like said, most of the head staff should had known their ranks were being removed since they had already been legacy for a while.
So that's pretty much it, you explained it very well with miscommunication being the biggest culprit, hopefully next time we can talk things through before leaving or making rash decisions, I already told Noomie and other higher staff after that fiasco, that I'll just assume the staff is in the right the next time, and not get involved at all unless there's definite proof.
-
Yeah, both sides were kinda stupid and by communicating poorly they made themselves seem even more stupid.
Now that this is cleared up, I hope we'll all learn from it and avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
Although there needs to be a server in the first place for us to avoid making the mistakes on. :(

You wot, m8? I left. I got demoted for "inactivity" and the reason for being inactive was that I couldn't be arsed to play Gmod.
For the record, I stopped playing Gmod and haven't played it since.
-
This has been dead for ages and since Watsuda doesn't understand how to get right on point and always have to draw it out with vague and unnecessary comments this just seems more stupid.
Only reason why you would want to discuss this again is because you have some petty grudge against one another, which is stupid or you just didn't get it the first time. If you really dislike someone and can't move on like a normal person just take it in private, you gain absolutely nothing from discussing this public, no one cares about this anymore.
Also modesty Watsuda, stop using sarcasm so much, even though you seem to think you don't it makes you look like a bit of a twat.
-
Dude, the discussion was over before you or Islu came in here. All you are doing is bringing it up again and again while complaining about it getting brought up all the time. You also managed to complain about nobody caring while proving that you care to some degree by writing your post? I could write a thesis about how absolutely pointless your post is. The discussion is literally over forever after being seriously discussed for the first time ever and you're a bit late to the party to complain about it. Nobody wants to discuss it again. It ended on a nice and light hearted note and then three people decided to not read it and then complain about it being discussed again, while starting a discussion about discussing it again, even though nobody wants to discuss it again or discuss discussing it again. Now stop the discussion and the meta-discussion and get back to the real problem:
What you should be complaining about is the fact that we are lacking RDMs and therefore donations.
