Title: A Sad day.
Post by: Nightblade on 13.08.2014 19:11:23
So today I went into Gmod only to realise that Dark RP is gone.

Hopefully it's being worked on a new server... But I kinda doubt it.

Bluestar got pissed because the server was constantly empty and removed it for the time being. It will be back at some point in the future.

Well, I just hope that future is near..
The nearer it'll be, the worse it'll be;
2 days after today, the server would be inactive as it was.
2 months after today, the server would be active only for a week, unless a DarkRP nostalgia comes in.
12 months after today, as CaTGC would grow, new people might make a stable playerbase.

No, if he repairs the server so you don't lagg out after 5 minutes of playing and when he actually adds some nice new stuff (cars, jobs, stuff to buy) it would grow no matter when you launch the server again. If you see all the other DarkRP servers, ours was one of the worst/oldest of them all. We just need to get it up to date, then the server grows. There's a ton of people who are addicted to DarkRP and a lot of communities with like 10 thousand members which they managed to get by only creating 1 or 2 DarkRP servers.

Pretty much this, it missed all the important features that was needed to create a good DarkRP server.

why should bluestar pay monthly for a server that NO ONE plays on
it's a waste of money and he did the right thing

Uhh, he hosts all servers at home?
But yeah, it was better that he shut it down if noone was playing on it. Besides it was just using additional download and upload speed.

We're already planning the improved DarkRP server, it mostly depends on how quickly Bluestar can get money for addons. How does everybody feel about a fictional dystopia somewhere in the american 1930's? For the layman, that's an emphasis on roleplaying, mafia and corruption.

As said, I really like that idea.

Why go buy carrots at the grocery store, when you can grow them at home?

Do you know how much money would he pay for all 10 servers?
